1. What is the zoning for my property?

Zoning will depend on whether the property is in the City limits and what zone it is located in. Please refer to the Zoning Map:

2. What types of uses are permitted on my property?

The zoning code "Permitted Uses" table lists allowed uses for each zone (see Stanwood Municipal Code Chapter 17.30.040).

3. What are required setbacks and heights for projects?

The zoning code "Development Standards Table" lists setbacks, heights, lot coverage, density, and other requirements for each zone (see Stanwood Municipal Code Chapter 17.60).

4. What are the long range plans for the City? How will we grow? Can my property be annexed? Where is the urban growth area?

Long range plans for a particular property depend on where you live. Please refer to the City’s Comprehensive Plan maps.

5. How can I get help with a code enforcement problem?

Code Enforcement issues, complaints, or questions can be directed to the City’s Code Compliance Officer at 360-454-5208.

6. What type of land use approval do I need for my project, and what do I need to submit with the application?

The type of approval needed depends upon the location, size, and details of the project. The City’s Community Development Department has developed a Master Permit Application for all land use projects, so only one application will be needed. Each type of land use approval will have a checklist, depending on the type of project, and each checklist will tell you how many copies of each item that you will need to submit with your project. Contact the City Planner for the types of checklist(s) that you may need at 360-454-5220.

7. How long will it take to review my permit application?

Review times are directly dependent on the type of project, the type and number of permits needed, and the quality of the submittal.

8. How can I schedule an inspection for project?

For inspections, contact the Building Inspection Scheduling line at 360-454-5217 and leave a message with:

• Permit number
• Site address
• When you would like the inspection
• Your name and contact number

We require at least 24 hours notice prior to an inspection request.

9. Can you locate my property lines for me or how do I locate my property lines?

The data the city refers to for property information is located on the Assessor’s Office website via the Snohomish County Online Property Information Interactive Map (SCOPI) and is not suitable for locating specific property lines and measurements. The City recommends you find a survey that may have been done for your property, look at your title report for past surveys or hire a surveyor to locate your property lines.
