Earlier this month R&R Construction of Carbonado. WA installed a new set of playground equipment purchased by the City of Stanwood from PlayCreation in Burien who designed the layout of the new playground and supplied the equipment. The City’s Parks and Trails Advisory Committee worked with the community to select the type and style of the equipment to replace the two swings and two slides that comprised the previous playground at the park.
In keeping with the “woodsy” feel of the park’s setting, the new playground features an earthy color scheme and natural feeling elements. The new equipment includes a tree-fort style climbing toy, a crawl through log tunnel, swings, spinners, and other elements designed to appeal to a variety of age ranges encouraging children and parents to use the park more often, stay active and help build social skills through interactive play.
The Stanwood City Council included, as part of the 2020 budget, funds to improve the usability of parks by providing new modern amenities. Snohomish County also provided a portion of the funding through a grant through their Small Capital Projects Partnership.
It was a team effort to get this project complete. We appreciate the hard work and contributions of everyone that made this project happen especially the City Public Works Streets, Parks and Drainage crew who went above and beyond to help at every turn.
