2015 Comprehensive Plan
About the Plan
The Comprehensive Plan for Stanwood is intended to guide future decisions through the year 2035 related to:
- Capital Facilities
- City Development
- Housing
- Land Use
- Transportation
- Utilities
The plan was developed in compliance with the Washington Growth Management Act (GMA), which establishes planning goals to guide the development and adoption of comprehensive plans within the State. These goals include:
- Reducing urban sprawl
- Encouraging affordable housing
- Providing efficient multi-modal transportation systems
- Protecting the environment
- Enhancing the State’s high quality of life
A further goal is to ensure that public facilities and services necessary to support future development shall be adequate and timely.
